Yes I already know this is not the place to discuss suspensions, as there is nothing that the Forum moderators can do to lift it, however, please don't remove this thread as I believe that this issue needs to be addressed further. And if this "Everything Else" section isn't and appropriate place with this topic, quite frankly, what is this section for?
I've submitted this because I'm completed outraged at what Admins on this site get away with (I'm not talking about moderators in this forum). For the most part I just try to avoid them, as I understand that the "power" is heavily weighed in their direction, and any attempt to refute them is futile. However, today I experienced a perfect example of certain admin abuse of authority, when I raised this very issue during the Founders chat on Friday, July 9. I had asked about the credentials of Admins on Justin.tv, because I was concerned about examples of abuse of the authority given to them, and subsequently was given a 24 hr ban! As you know the Founders chat is full of Admins watching, and tossing out haughty comments, not monitoring other channels as they should be. The 24 hr ban irritated me, but I can handle a 24 hr ban; my frustration turned to outrage when I attempted to login to my account later in the day, only to find out that my username, Styleguy, which I've used since December 1, 2008, was suspended. It's very obvious that, the exact issue I had raised had manifested, in this obvious abuse of authority, merely becuase I had raised issues with regards to people in the chatroom.
Please understand Justin.tv, that Individual users make your business what it is. Yes, the advertisers bring in your revenue, but if your user population was low, advertisers would turn to higher traffic websites to spend their money. If your business was hurt by staff, paid or volunteer, it would behoove you to address this matter, if not to make users happy, but at the very least, because it makes good business sense. There are users of this site whom use it on a regular basis; me for example that appreciate being able to keep the same user name because it's familiar to other other user "friends" whom I network with. The fact that it can be suspended so willy-nilly, without any regards or email to the user is truly disappointing. As an entrepreneur myself, I have considered advertising on Justin.tv to appeal to a certain demographic, but will certainly reconsider that decision if I believe this issue is not adequately addressed. I have contacted Justin.tv with a request to have my unfair suspension lifted. I will keep users of this forum apprised of their decision; fair-is-fair.
Respectfully submitted,
