Is there any way to start chat without starting video?
How can I change the colors on chat?
How can I set a chat window (no video) as an active desktop?

If you click the broadcast button, it should bring you through a wizard to create a channel. Once it is created, you can close the broadcast window and go to justin.tv/USERNAME

You cannot change the colors of the physical chatroom.
