They have already started to testing with some of their youtube partners. Do you think people will jump ship to youtube if they open it up to everyone else?

Probably not much.

A streaming site in a foreign country that allows streaming of copyrighted movies, sports, gaming, porn without following DMCA would crush Justin, and all the other U.S. regulated streaming sites but since Youtube will be bound by the same regulations as Justin.tv I don't see that anything could be that different there unless they have more money that gets invested in servers, software, etc.

It has also been widely reported that YouTube will not open live streaming to the "dirty masses," who are us, but rather will only allow their "partners" the privilege of live streaming. Thus, the affect it will have on sites like JTV will be minimal.

Heck, if anyone happened to watch any of their testing, earlier this week, one would believe that, because of quality issues, the affect would be minimal regardless of who they let stream live.

CEO Michael Seibel remains confident that Justin.tv will continue to grow, despite YouTube’s entry in the live video streaming space. As he tells TechCrunch, many of Justin.tv’s competitors are focused on partnerships for live streams of events and premium content, whereas Justin.tv is more focused on the UGC realm. This, he says, will help the startup maintain a unique competitive advantage.

There you go :)

This doesn't affect JTVs core users/viewers but they'll no longer get spikes in viewers when a live stream is announced on youtube. I think youtube saw that a bunch of their "stars" would occasionally announce live shows on random websites outside of youtube. This is just a workaround for that so they can keep everything in house.

this will be a great challenge for JTV and the others to bring quality and reliability to their networks and more benefits for the users

lets those who are willing to risk to get the reward of the viewers

UStream (Look at the stuff you see there) is a challenge for JTV. Yet you don't see the end coming do you?

Just a thought.....

Cheers :D
