View Full Version : How to broadcast Speaker sound through FME?

Let me explain the issue:

So, in the windows 7 sound page, theres 2 main pages : playback, and recording.

On the playback page, i have my {headset input and output} ( which is a tactic 3d sigma), and the {onboard speakers}.

On the recording page, i have my {headset mic}, and {stereo mix}.

FME only picks up devices on the recording page, and in this case it would pick up the {stereo mix}, which captures sound from the speaker and the mic.

HOWEVER, the issue is that {stereo mix} doesnt work when i plug my {headset} into the USB slot; it doesnt pick up either the {headset mic} nor the {headset speaker input}. But when i plug in the {headset} into the motherboard, then the {stereo mix} starts working, and it picks up {speakers} and the {regular mic}. HOWEVER, the onboard sound quality sucks, and it hurts my ears; i NEED the headset plugged into the USB slot, because i get amazing sound quality.

so, my 2 questions are : is there a way to enable stereo mix with the headset plugged into the USB slot? And also, is there a way to capture speaker sound with FME?

P.S. i tried using virtual audio cable, but i think i wasnt doing it right, because I was getting some issue with all the "pins being in use" or something...

my friend.. ive tried for a week, just about every possible way, i dont think it can be done with a usb headset. SOMEHOW xsplit picks up all my sound perfectly, but when i want to use command mode FME, i cant, because i cant have my in game sound :(

There is no way to use Stereo mix with USB device. Stereo mix is part of integrated sound card on your motherboard.
USB headsets like separate devices (sound cards) and they cant be routed on Stereo Mix.

Only way you can do it is to use Xsplit, which can mix system audio with your mic and export that to virtual audio device.

If you dont want to use Xsplit, only way is to properly configure Virtual Audio Cable. This video may help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztuoLyfeHGk

Launch normal, graphical version of FME, set up all your settings. Go to File - Save Profile. After that, make a bat file like shown in this tutorial http://multiboxing.com/forums/f2/exact-way-stream-fme-jtv-read-1116.html

configuring a virtual audio cable doesnt work either, it will not recognize your speakers as an output device, only input. weird how xsplit manages to make it happen nicely, yet no other program can do it :(

my command line FME is configured correctly, same with VAC, it just wont work with a usb headset, unless like you said.. use xsplit, which i do. :)

Let's see.. I could be completely wrong but VAC takes various input sources and combines them into one output source (aka Line 1). Configure VAC to take in Stereo Mix and USB Audio. Then in FME set the audio as Line 1.

Under playback set Speakers as your default device. Then.. I think.. you go to recording devices and right click Line 1 > Properties, under Listen tab set the playback through this device to Speakers. Do the same thing for stereomix but set the playback to Line 1.

Thing is..i dont think VAC can take USB headset audio ( which is a playback device) as an input...

I already saw that video, and it doesnt help..

when i try to output my USB headset( NOT THE MIC, just the actual audio im getting) to Line 1, it gives me an error saying " No appropriate pin found for input device. This is either caused by - The device format is incorrect( and i messed with that a bit, but still no luck) or - all pin instances are busy.

any1 know a fix to this?

Also, ive been messing around a LOT with Xsplit, but it just lags too much...

I don't know whats wrong with it; they need to patch it.
