View Full Version : Latest Version of Xsplit not Broadcasting to JTV

So the latest version of Xsplit just got forced out, requiring everyone to install it (version 1.0.1105.0605 I believe). Ever since this version has come out (I also messed around with it before its forced release), Xsplit will no longer broadcast to JTV. What ends up happening is this:

Xsplit reacts like normal, the small popup near the tray activates and says that the stream is running. Xsplit's text changes to red, and states the stream bitrate along with the number of viewers. Without looking at my JTV stream directly, there is no indication of an issue.

However, if you go to the stream while broadcasting, normally you should see your broadcast playing on your channel. Unfortunately, it instead switches back and forth between "Live" and "Offline", my default background popping in and out every 5 or 8 seconds, as though the broadcast is going to start, but then going back to offline after another 5 or 8 seconds. It continues to do this until I stop the broadcast.

Also noteworthy is the fact that during this "broadcast", no local recording is made, and no video is created on the channel, so I know it's not an issue with me seeing my own stream. The funniest part about this part of the problem, is that if I set Xsplit not to stream, but simply to do a local recording, everything works fine.

I currently use Dxtory as a virtual camera, and thought that might have been causing the problem. However, even when I use Xsplit to broadcast a view of my desktop, with Dxtory turned off completely, it still does not broadcast to my channel.

As I've been broadcasting flawlessly for the last few weeks, and all of these problems immediately began with the new version of Xsplit (I was able to remedy them by switching back to the old version, but now the new version is forced to install), I can only imagine that the issue lies somewhere within the new Xsplit.

I can't imagine I'm the only one experiencing this issue. I was hoping that someone else on these forums has had a similar problem and has found a fix for it. Or even if someone is currently using the most recent version of Xsplit and has not been having trouble with your broadcast on JTV, please let me know how you have things set up.

Thanks for your time in reading over this, and for any help you can offer :)

Update: So, I tried broadcasting the stream to another service, Ustream, and it worked fine. So, there's obviously some new disagreement between Xsplit and JTV. Still... if no one else has been having an issue with this, I'm kind of curious as to why.

That's rather interesting. Let me see if I can reproduce.

Thanks for your patience.

Have you used the older versions of xsplit? Have they worked fine?

I'm just checking incase it's a problem in your stream settings.

Hey, NP! I really appreciate you working on the problem!

When I was able to revert the xsplit version, changing to an older version allowed streaming to work like normal. However, xsplit now forces an update on load to their newest version (if there's any way to stop it from doing that, I'm all ears). The newest version (as of the time of my first post) is the one that I've been having trouble with, and I have changed none of my stream settings since the update.

Shortened answer is yes, I have been using older versions of Xsplit for a while now, and that is how I've been streaming for the last two weeks leading up to this incident.

Thanks again for your attention in this matter. Let me know if there's anything else that you need from me!

Thanks for your clarification.

What Operating System are you running on? I'll run a test on this soon.

I'm running on Windows 7. I'm not at home at the moment, so I'm not sure if I have any service packs currently installed.

Im also a tester @ xsplit and i have a problem with it too.
As the OP says xplit doesnt say theres a problem, but if you want to go to your justin channel page the screen stays white and doesnt change, you dont see anything bc white.
When you stop streaming you can visit the page like normaly, untill you go back streaming again.

[EDIT]

Now when updated to IE 9 (yuck) it never loads up the stream, also on xsplit your kbrate goes to 12kbs (?) and the channel goes live but stays black
Ill post a screenshot soon.

Im also running under w7 64 OS

OK i think i found the solution to the problem.
Did you fully updated to the last version? because they updated the x265 driver. i just checked my dll file and seen that the driver was out of place.
Now i updated the driver and everything works again!-> My Channel (http://www.justin.tv/thegamezones)

So check if your xsplit is updated to the latest version!

So I am new to streaming, Justin.tv and Xsplit, but I have updated to the latest version and am still having the issue mentioned in this thread. It says its streaming but it isn't. T.T

Can you please be more specific? About the .dll and it's location. Much appreciated. I just want to stream~

Edit: Well.. so I have been farting around with the settings for the past few hours trying to fix this myself. I just changed the resolution I was streaming at in Xsplit and now it is working. I recommend looking there if you are still having issues.

I was attempting to stream at 840:525 (half of my natural res, 1680x1050)

Hey, thanks for offering some help!

Where can I get this driver update? What specifically did you do to "fully update"? I reinstalled the current release version of xsplit, and it's still having trouble. When I try to install the tier 2 beta release of the program, it tells me that it did not successfully install the update, and then it continues to have the same problems when I try to broadcast.

Thanks tons for your help!

I am having the same problem as described above, I tried to update to tier 2 or whatever and got an error applying the update. Then I tried to uninstall/reinstall which didn't fix the problem. Is there a way to manually fix the driver or whatever?

Thanks for your input!

Best resolution to stream is 1280x720 wich is HD and nut stressing your computer.

About the Dll. you can find it in your xsplit install directory.

X:Program Files (x86)\SplitMediaLabs\XSplit\
you have to look for this file: libx264-115.dll
Anything thats lower then 115 needs to be updated

You can update xsplit by doing the following action:

start Xsplit and log in at these settings:

login: tier3@xsplit.com
Pass: update

Xsplit will check if theres an update for your build.
After download it installs itself and you can log back in with your credentials.
No need to update IE to the latest version, but keep track with the flash player from adobe wich you can find here:

Check Your Flash/Browser Versions (http://community.justin.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=211)

my stream settings:

CHANNEL

Preset: xsplit default
quality 6/10
resolution: default stage
VBV: 3000
Sound 128.000

Hopefully this is enough to help your stream
You can check out my channel, im now streaming dirt 3 trough ps3

Hmmm...So I've messed with my Resolution, and I've managed to get Xsplit to update properly (doesn't like to update when it's not installed in your default "C" drive), but it's still giving me the same exact issue : \

I checked the .dll and it's libx264-115, so I'm not sure what the issue still is. Just really confusing that this issue is only happening with JTV's stream >.<

Thanks again for all of your help guys, and I'm glad it's working for you :P

I just needed 5 seconds to see what the problem.

Let me first explain you something before i adres you.
If you look at the settings where you can pick the quality, next to that you got VBV max bitrate.
You set that up waaaay to high, why?

Let me explain you, if you look at your upload you set it to 2.3 mb p/s upload rate.
With your connection i rather put 1500 as the maximum output.
You dont need to have more then 1500 because thats the point where you can stream HD like on my stream.
Also put the VBV buffer to 3000 and im almost sure you'll get trough
And i can tell because i have the simulair type of connection only i have 40mb download and 4mb upload.

With streaming you UPLOAD your files to justin so its not the downstream you need to pay attention to but the upstream.
If companies or games ask what connection you have fill in your upload.
your maximum output on the upload is on the stressed level, but you need more upload then you think, bc just by watching this page your uploading something.
Set your bitrate to 1500 and let the VBV buffer auto adjust itself

If that doesnt work come back and ill check more options to check out.
Hopefully it works now for you

Cheers Mike

That's how I've had it set for a while now though, so it's still really odd to me that an Xsplit update would stop my stream from working only on JTV. When I was first setting my stream up, I read instructions saying not to go above 1500kbps, and other instructions saying to set my max bitrate to around 60%-80% of my internets upload rate. Since it worked with a higher max bitrate, I figured I'd leave it there.

I'll try dropping the bitrate when I get home tonight and I'll post my findings. Thanks again for your help :D

and this problem is only with justin? hmm, i know that from somewhere.
just try the lowest setting of 500 bitrate see what it does, if that doesnt show it, its not the bitrate, uncheck autorecord.
If thats not the one. you have something set wrong in the xplit config itself.
Did you try to completly remove it and install it?

If you did all that stuff, i think your computer has an issue with the multicore driver thats been put in.
Remember that i said you have to look for a sertain file?
download the file [libx264-112.dll] HERE (http://www.teamliquid.net/staff/R1CH/libx264112.zip)
and back up the other one libx264-115.dll by renaming it to libx264-115.dll.old
Then place the downloaded file and start it again, dont update!! and start off with 500kb bitrate :)

Yeah, I'm able to stream to Ustream just fine with those settings. I haven't tried some of the other popular sites yet, but I could do that for the sake of figuring out what's causing this.

I've completely removed, reinstalled, and reupdated Xsplit around 6 times now. No changes, no matter the version. I'll drop the bitrate when I get home in a few hours and see if that fixes things. Hopefully it's not the auto-record feature that's causing it, since I like to save the videos for Youtube cuts and edits.

SuperSamuri
05-26-2011, 06:08 PM
Alright, so, here's my findings:

So, I first followed your instructions and downloaded the libx264-112.dll, backing up the 115.dll and replacing it. I then set my max bitrate in xsplit down to 500 and turned off automatic recording.

When I went to stream, it acted the same, except this time instead of JTV's feed jumping between offline and Live, it stayed Live but displayed nothing but black screen (and yes I switched between a couple of the scenes that I have set up on xsplit to make sure that wasn't the issue).

Also something odd that kept happening is that every time I would run the stream, after turning it off and going to the channel settings, Xsplit would return the max bitrate to 1500 and turn automatic recording back on.

In the end, I uninstalled and reinstalled Xsplit again, without any updates.

TLDR:
Here's the solution:

After reinstalling, I tried out turning down the bitrate and turning off Automatically Record. After doing so, my stream worked. I turned Automatic Recording back on, viola, stream doesn't work.

So, the culprit here...for some odd reason, is the Automatic Recording option. Leaving it off, I can stream again. I'm submitting a bug ticket to Xsplit about the issue, and hopefully they'll figure it out, because I really like having my sessions recorded, just in case something fun or entertaining happens.

Thanks again everyone for all the help. It's amazingly appreciated. If you have any further advice on something I can do to get the automatic recording working again, I'm all ears, but for now I'm content!

Hmmm, that sounds strange as it didn't happen to me. But I think they were able to fix that problem along with the other ones with their latest update that just happened recently: http://www.xsplit.com/whats_cooking.php?post_id=273&page_name=whats_cooking

They also added some new features as I've seen in their Release Notes.
