Default New JTV on Django launch starts June 18

What everyone has been waiting for is finally here! We begin rolling out the new Django version of Justin.tv on Monday, June 18, in the early afternoon (Pacific time).

You should not expect any disruptions in service, neither with the video or chat. As a whole the site will look pretty much the same, with some small changes to the home page, and a redesign of the settings pages.

Please let us know of any bugs or features not working correctly after we roll out.

We will keep you informed of new developments as they unfold.

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi Everyone!

We're really excited here at the office to be launching Django. I wanted to give you some light as to what we have changed since April.

Home Page:
We heard you. It really sucks not to have a list of the live channels you follow. We brought back a homepage that provides this list!

Highlights:
Highlights are back! You will be able to highlight your favorite broadcasters just as you can on the Rails version of Justin.tv. We also made it easier to tell for viewers and broadcasters alike as to who is highlighting content. We've also made enhancements to managing viewer highlights (if you set highlights not to automatically add).

Settings:
Various settings were restored, such as toggling the chat banned filter and blocking messages from users you do not follow

Previously On... Videos:
We brought back the past broadcasts/highlights on the channel page (if the broadcaster allows it).

Chat:
WILL WORK

New Users:
Broadcasting will work for you

Please let me know if you have any concerns left from April's launch.

At the moment, the only question I have, which is asked by most people whom I showed this thread to is, Will our monkey emiticons be back in this roll out? I've not seen them mentioned in the above posts but people seem more concerned about them that the transfer lol

Define "will work" have you finally added a proper IRC chat service or are you still building on the horrible half attempt at an IRCd you were using many months back, its the reason i stopped streaming with you as your junk chat never gave me proper access to it, so clarify have you completely redone the chat or are you just spamming out pretty updates which actually dont really matter to me in the least?

The chat server is not changing. He is referring to not having the same issues as as the first rollout.

Just what sort of problems (Other than your bot) are you having with the server? I ask because THE ONLY problem I'm having is the duplicate joining & leaving notifications (Something I wish JTV would fix sometime since I get it on a number of IRC clients but even that isn't a biggie)

Just what sort of access are you looking to get? You already have ops in your own room. From there, you can mod anyone (Or anything) you want (Including the bot I believe you said you're trying to run) as well as execute mod functions in other rooms (Provided of course you have mod status in other rooms)

If I understand Dylan & Co correctly (Which I believe I do though of course they can correct me if I'm wrong on any or all of this), Django has NOTHING WHATSOEVER with the IRC side of chat. It's all on the WEBSITE end of things, which takes me back to my earlier (Yet now broader) question.....

Just what sort of access to the IRC server are you looking for/were hopring to get?

Please clarify that. We (Both staff & community alike) really want to help but you have to understand that other places ARE NOT NEARLY as transparent as JTV/TTV are. In fact, some places don't even offer a message board for people to use. BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE ONE HERE !!!!! Just sayin'.....

Cheers
