Microsoft life Cam

Two questions if anyone can help as i'm new to JTV. Firstly my Microsoft Life Cam needs to be reset quality and audio everytime I open JTV. Is this normal or is there something i'm missing? Also when I broadcast the chat window gets around 10 messages and then doesn't show anymore. Please help if you can
