I am adding to this thread to note that it has been confirmed that videos are now being retained for just two days. This per Dylan and Daniel on Community Chat of June 29, 2012. The reason given is that it was costing JTV too much to store all videos for 4 days.

For now, there continues to be no limit on creating highlights, and (again, for now) highlights still live indefinitely. Expect that situation to change sometime down the road.

This post is just FYI for those interested.

4 days are definitely not enough. Why not making it longer? I don't understand

Well, if four days is not enough, then two days is certainly not enough.

This means that if someone is offline for two days (over a weekend for example) and they miss a broadcast they want to see, it's too late for them to see it. It will be deleted by the time they get back. Unless someone else has made a highlight for them.

Seven days was a pretty reasonable time to keep past broadcasts. But two days is just ridicules. Why the hell can't JTV just stop archiving past video, rather then just keep cutting it back until its worthless? Whats next, keeping past broadcast for two hours?

It should be obvious to anyone who has been on JTV for long, that they want to make it a live video only site. Maybe thats their plan. Keep cutting it back, until no one even watches past videos. Then remove the video page entirely and claim that it was because no one watched past videos anyway.

It is now less than a day and a half. My broadcast from Friday evening that started at 6:50 P.M. and ended at 9:30 P.M., was gone by Sunday morning at 6 A.M. Was probably gone within 1 day or less than 36 hours.

I've noticed that too. 36 hours seems to be the approximate deletion time.

Leave it to the them, to figure out new ways to make JTV suck more. Focus on live video, F... the community, and remain clueless as to why people keep asking to "bring back the old JTV".

Note to JTV developers (not that they care): JTV is not even close to being the best streaming video site on the internet. The only thing JTV has/had going for it is the JTV community. As you continue to screw the community, you are only hurting your site. The traffic statistics don't lie. You people are killing your site and with it your own jobs.

Yes, that was it. Does not matter to me, just was noticing it was not showing anymore. Thanks for looking into it.
