I am using VLC / JTVLC as packaged by ixnay74 http://www.computer-house.net/ix
I have the same problem as many others. When streaming more than one file from the VLC playlist after the first video plays the stream dies and users have to refresh their browser to get it back and then there is no sound. Also I am not able to get subtitles from .srt file to stream. |

Is anyone able to run a playlist fine with VLC? I something else to stream but want to use VLC cuz vlc can play any file, but i also need the playlist to work? How does using vlc compare to using FME?

I got it working.. somewhat. On my channel the video runs smoothly, but the images on the screen don't refresh correctly. For example, when the screen fades from one scene to another, the image doesn't change unless there is movement, and in that case, it often looks like people are walking through a wall or something. I'm not quite sure how to properly describe what's happening, but if anyone picks up on what I'm attempting to say, do you have any tips to fix that? I want to point out again, that it is not laggy in any way.
Edit: Oh yea, I'm not getting any audio through my channel, either :/ My playlist consists of 720p mkv's if that makes any difference. Thanks! Edit #2. I changed the codec in the command line from mp4 to mkv, and that improved things greatly. The image does still chop up a lot (again, not from lag), and still no audio. The videos play fine through VLC normally. Last edited by dsDoan; 02-19-2011 at 12:31 PM. |

Okay,
In order for my method of casting playlists to function your files need to be EXACTLY the same, same encoding/resolution/audio... I know it sux, but jtv changed something awhile back and it absolutely doesnt like seeing changes in the stream coming from jtvlc... I have scripted my channel using batch files to stop and restart jtvlc whenever it switches filetypes. Drawback is that it requires users to refresh the chan, but they dont seem to mind much... Although this only happens on my chan when switching between 4x3 and 16x9 content as I have re-encoded all my source material to be identical. Also VLC doesnt seem to play nicely w/ source files that have multiple audio tracks, nasty things happen (no audio, messed up audio). While I have managed to get subtitles working, it was NOT fun, I could dig up the configuration if anybody is interested, but that NEVER worked with playlists as I had to manually load the .srt file.... If there is any interest, I can post up some examples of the batch files.. Check my chan to see it working! http://www.justin.tv/ixnay74 Ix... |

What version of windows are you using? Also you would need to have the files running off the root, so c:\justintv\stream.bat
If you are running the files from a different location you would need to edit the batch file appropriately. Ix.. |

Windows 7 64 bit and yeah I changed the root to match where my files are. when I click on example it opens VLC and counts down with no error messages. When I open stream.bat it opens another VLC window and plays the movies in my playlist and gives me this error: File reading failed: VLC could not open the file "C:\justinTV\****dman22". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/justinTV%2Fth****man22'. Check the log for details. File reading failed: VLC could not open the file "C:\justinTV\live__xMk". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///C:/justinTV%2Flive__xzk'. Check the log for details. Last edited by Samer; 03-15-2011 at 04:41 AM. |

So when VLC launches and begins counting, do you get the c:\JustinTV\vlc.sdp file?
When u run the stream.bat file it should launch jtvlc, not vlc... the contents of stream.bat should read as follows @echo off "C:\JustinTV\jtvlc\jtvlc.exe" username streamkey C:\JustinTV\vlc.sdp also, please edit your last post.. it seems to include your streamkey and username.. remove that info ASAP!
