I have a few quick questions. Will the programs work with the hauppage HD PVR and how can I stream my voice and the voice of others that I'm playing with?

I was trying to figut\re out a way to capture the gameplay as well as in game chat, but its impossible to do this with any software. You will need a mixer so that will get basically mix your voice into the game sound before it goes into the the capture device. If you dont, during your streams you will be speaking over everyone.

From everything I've seen it looks like Flash Media Live *should* work with the Hauppage PVR through EyeTV (as James says above).

However I have been unable to get these to work: the Flash Media Live sees my Mac's iSight but not the EyeTV or the Hauppage under the "device" input.

I have seen people asking about this on the adobe forums too.

It is a curious thing but everyone keeps linking back to the one video above, which is confusing because I don't think it mentions EyeTV once.

Can anyone confirm that the advice here is right? Any thoughts on the EyeTV not showing up in Flash Media Live?

Appreciate it James and all!

OK update: someone on the Adobe forums says that the step of using CamTwist is actually necessary with the EyeTV (Hauppage PVR in my case) because it doesn't present itself to the OS like the type of capture device that is necessery for Flash Media Live to pull it in under "devices."

In this setup they say that Camtwist pulling the video off of the EyeTV preview into FMLE (which is in the video though not shown with EyeTV I don't think).

I´m not sure but I think you need Camtwist or something like it and broadcast eyetv from your desktop. Start Camtwist make a button with your desktop, start FMLE choose *Camtwist in your device list. You can even have pip cams or pip desktops which ever you like in camtwist. I think FMLE look for webcams or capturecards or similar kind of devices and I don´t think the eyetv device show itself to the os that way.

Wish I could get my HDPVR to go right through FMLE!!!

Can anyone verify that the poster on the adobe board is right about needing Camtwist?!

That was me replying over on the Adobe forum. If FMLE cant see the device it cant broadcast it but in Camtwist you can make a Desktop button = you can playback anything thats going on/playing back on your desktop.

For example I have both a PC (DC60) and a Mac (DC60+) version of the Easycap USB capture card. The DC60+ Mac version is recognized by FMLE but the DC 60 is not. The DC 60 can however work on a mac if you get the free software Easycapviewer but only for playback on your desktop pretty much like a TV card are restricted to for some reason. That gives its still possible to cast it if you use Camtwist and broadcast your desktop.

Unfortunately it takes a pretty powerful mac to broadcast fullscreen HD video using Camtwist and FMLE and at least 1.4 - 1.6 mb broadband upstream. To monitor your live broadcast (at the same time you cast it) without it being choppy or laggy I´d say it takes at least 10 mb downstream.

Also the settings a crucial and you have to try what works best for your personal hardware and internet speed. I have an i7 cpu, 6 gig ram 1600 Mhz and an ATI 1 gig ddr5 5750 videocard. For my HD camcorder I have the Black Magic Intensity Pro capture Pcie card and for my analogue camcorder I use the C60+ USB capture card. I have 1.4 - 1.6 mb upstream and round 14 downstream. It varies from time to time though depending what my internet "feels like" on a daily basis.

This is the software I use these are all free good softwares:
FMLE 3.2
Camtwist
Soundflower
LineIn

LinIn let you switch between soundsources/cards and Soundflower presents itself as a soundcard to OSX. That gives if you set osx to use soundflower as soundcard and also use the LineIn app you can easily switch between any soundsource you have playing back audio on your computer be it the internalsoundcard or any external soundcard/source. In my case sound coming in from my DC60+ or sound from my HD camcorder or sound in on my Black Magic card.

First I start up Camtwist then FMLE (LineIn looks like you can start anytime you want).

In Camtwist I choose 720*480 for inputsize

This is how I set up my FMLE:
Device for video Camtwist
VP6 or H.264 seem to work just as good.
fps 25
inputsize 720*480
outputsize 720*404 (uncheck maintain aspect ratio)
Bit rate 800 kbps
Device for sound Soundflower
format Mp3
channels stereo
Sample rate 44100
Bitrate 224
Volume slider I adjust to how hot a sound I´m taking in to FMLE

This gives HQ wide screen for my HD camcorder but though Im a poor guy and only have two old 19 inch CTR monitors for that computer it only gives close to wide but not all the way when I play cast my desktop. Still this seem to be the best all around settings for my gear.

Good luck come over say hello on my channel and I´ll try to help if I can.

well if you have a sound board you can for go the soundflower and audio hijack sometimes you can find a few channel ones at pawn shops for $50 more than the audio hijack pro yes but it can do a lot more assuming you also have a mic I know Audio Hijack is probably easier but just saying

I did everything in the video, but I'm having some problems. First of all, FMLE is picking up audio, but you can't hear anything in the actual stream. Does this have to do with FMLE settings, or is there a different way to fix this? Second, the quality is very low, but the FMLE video settings are 1280 x 720 input and output. The format is H.264 and the bitrate is 650. I have a very fast network, so I can probably use the highest settings possible, but nothing I have done so far has made any difference in the quality on JTV.

about the video quality the first thing you should try if you have more speed available is use a higher bitrate, 650 for that resolution is really small more if you cast something that changes fast like games or videos and no a slideshow or the desktop
