i wish that mr. Justin and the Administration don't forget your rules over here: https://ar.justin.tv/payment/pro_faq specially: Do I have to buy a Pro Account? No, Pro Accounts are totally optional. (But we'd love you forever if you bought one!) Does this mean that Justin.tv is a pay site? No, Justin.tv is a free website, and will continue to be a free website. Pro Accounts are an optional upgrade that allow you to access more content and features. n the same time you said it's optional and in the other hand you make it by force!!!! i wish you find solution because all of my viewers cannot watch also even they are from diffrents countries when it's become around 1000 viewers in the same time!!! |

Why can't I see video without a Pro Account?
Due to bandwidth costs in some countries, we are sometimes unable to provide access to all of the high-traffic streams on Justin.tv to all of our users at peak times. However, users who have upgraded to Pro Accounts will be allowed to view all streams, at all times. Think of Pro Accounts like rush-hour transportation: it may seem like the same train ride as at mid-day, but it's more complicated to make it work. Does this mean that you're charging people to watch specific broadcasts? No. We never target specific broadcasts or content. The limited access to a stream is based on site traffic, and the cost of streaming to the location from which you are viewing. It has nothing to do with the content of the video that you are trying to view. We're just making sure that we can afford to keep Justin.tv around for a long time! Why does my location matter? Unfortunately, it is still very expensive to stream live video to certain parts of the world. Live video requires an enormous amount of bandwidth, and some locations are more expensive for streaming than others. Are you charging everyone from specific countries? Absolutely not. Video access is only restricted occasionally, during peak usage, to help control our costs. Even if you are from a location that has restricted access, you will still be able to see the vast majority of content on Justin.tv. By purchasing a Pro Account you guarantee unlimited access to all content on the site, and you help support Justin.tv! If I don't upgrade to a Pro Account, will I still be able to view other video streams? Of course! Non-Pro users will be able to see most streams on Justin.tv. Only extremely high-traffic streams may require a Pro Account, depending on the bandwidth available in your country. I bought a Pro Account, but I still can't see video! Oh no! First off: we're sorry. We try to make things as perfect as we can, but sometimes there are problems. If you bought a Pro Account, but still can't see a particular channel, please try logging out of the site, then logging back in (this fixes 99% of problems). If you still have trouble, please contact, and we'll do our best to help.

If you become pro you will always be able to see live feeds, no matter how many people are accessing it from your country.

i wish that my point reach to all of kind adminitration in JTV...
unfortunatlly you'll lose huge number of viewers according this new rule believe me! and just keep looking up the range at Alexa we have big show in the middle east starting at next dec or feb named Star Academy which is 24/24 live for 5 months and at the prime night we got more than 4000 viewers per one channel and more than 1700 viewers per channel every night for the dairies episode. imagen how much clicks(visitors) you'll lose if we stop broadcasting this show at your kind site? as you know there is much live broadcasting sites now and totally free! am just giving numbers cuz i become a member of this site and i'm working just as it's mine. i advise the kind administration to find out the best for them and the fans. special thx for all who posts. |

I don't understand how streaming to other countries costs justin tv anything.
Second not admitting that justin is a paysite just gets you out of the trouble of actually taking responsibility for providing technincally sufficient products |

The best way I can explain the bandwidth costs is to compare it to a postal service. The farther the mail has to go, the more it costs for shipping. It costs more to ship something international than domestic. The same thing is true for data being transferred over the Internet. Since Justin.TV's video servers are only located in the San Francisco, California area (as of this writing), data from their data center has to travel from there through JTV's Internet service provider (ISP), then through many other computers along the Internet before reaching, you, the user. ISP's charge business websites like JTV based on the amount of traffic that they send out, which in JTV's case, is a lot of data since it is video streaming. Pro accounts have priority over all other users in receiving all broadcasts. That's why these users don't have the country limitation. Their payment to JTV goes toward helping JTV pay for their bandwidth costs, so they have priority over everyone else.
In time, JTV could expand by going global which means they could put video web-server farms across the world. This would allow International streams to be stored closer to the other International users. That's how all the other big websites do it including Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and many others. The difference is that JTV is still a "start-up" business and will continue to grow every day.

Well, you managed to win me over with that argument, but I have a strong suspicion I'm in the minority here.
You should at least show international viewers the courtesy of offering a day pass rather than a full month, this might go a bit to mitigate the slap in the face that this message is, especially since it came completely out of the blue after the stream had worked fine for two evenings. Note that I'm not annoyed about the fact that it costs you money to run justin.tv, I'm 100% sympathetic to the issues you face. What put me off is that you first provide an excellent service, which is then suddenly denied to me on what the average user would consider a most arbitrary basis -- country of origin. Had I been given an explicit notice that justin.tv can currently only provide reliable service to American residents, it would reduce the "WTF is this?!" factor. It's only fair, and reduces frustration. Anyway, just my two cents... Or ten bucks, in this case =P |
