Default Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 - Figuring out FMS URL

How do I know what the FMS url (or the backup url) for my justin.tv channel is?

Does the 'Stream:' space matter or is that just what the superficial name is?

Well you got this: http://community.justin.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=5212

Also your Stream is your live key (can get that from http://en.justin.tv/broadcast/adv_other by clicking Show)

Hope that answered your questions

Hello vaatiful,

You don't have to fill out those details by yourself. In fact it is advisable not to. You can go to here , click the "Config" button next to the Flash Media Encoder icon and just download the XML file for Flash Media Live Encoder. Once you have downloaded it just go to your FMLE and click file>open profile and select the file you have just downloaded. This should automatically fill in the details for your stream. If you get a message saying something like "Profile Validation..." just press ok. Once you have done this however you will have to readjust all your video and sound settings. I would advise not changing anything on the right side of the window (the FMS url is) unless you know what you are changing and why. Hope that helped!

Note: Make sure you are logged in when you download the XML(config) file. Also don't forget to save your profile once you have done setting it up so that next time you can just open it and not have to set anything up before streaming!

also , if you already have the profile setup like you want , you can actually copy/paste those 2 values with no really danger

for the "stream:" go to the link that user posted , then click the blue "show" text , that is the stream value (that is your private key , never share that , or anyone could cast something bad in your channel and you end banned) , just copy/paste that , no danger there

for the fms url , here you can see a list with more than one (the profile you can download only has the default one, but which one is better for you could depend on your location)

EDIT : i believe there is not need to use a backup one

sometimes I hate this forum, I made a post explaining where to get all the answers ages ago (with ages ago I mean I was first to respond :P) but it got flagged for manual approval for some reason and they never seem to get around to approving it...

But yes both relevant links have been posted here on where you get both things you need, will be interesting to see when my other post shows up here (hell maybe this post gets flagged too)

I would personally not recommend getting the .xml and loading it into FME, better to just get the stream ID as well as getting the best URL closest to your physical location from the thread.

edit: haha there it is, up at the top.. when I posted this post it wasn't there... beautiful system... *cough*

edit2: another thing you can do to protect your stream is to use a temporary stream key, you can get one of these by "inviting" yourself here: http://en.justin.tv/settings?section...hannel_members and that will send a mail to the adress you specify with the stream key and you can broadcast to your channel using that, why do this? Well you get the ability to revoke that stream key so if it gets stolen you can just remove the access, hopefully in time, and your channel is safe. If your primary stream key gets stolen you are royally screwed and will most likely end up with a banned channel and having to remake it all from scratch.
