Umm no its not the same your iPhone needs to be on 4.3.1 or higher (which at this date is 4.3.4). Airplay for third party apps came with the 4.3.1 update. You will need to update your phone via iTunes.

Ok so that is the highest. But it should be working. Uninstall the JTV app and reinstall it. Just tested it out. All working well here.

iTunes should track purchases, so as long as you download it under the same account you should be okay.

In your phone, could you go to Settings / General / About. What is the version listed?

Hmmmm this is really weird. Are you sure your downloading from the iTunes store cause I have a Vzw iPhone 4 on the same firmware and its playing video and sound on my appleTV 2. Is your appleTV updated as well.

The latest iOS is the 4.3 series.

You may want to contact apple if you are having problems updating.
