Broadcasting your video games, whether it be your PC games or Console games isn't as hard as it might look! It doesn't even have to be that expensive to do if you're willing to look for some good deals from the web.

This page is a nexus of sorts, to all things related to video game broadcasting. Please feel free to add to to the pages if you've found something that works well.

Desktop Gaming

Desktop broadcasting will require two things: 1. Desktop Capture Software and 2. Desktop Audio Capturing. In this tutorial you'll find some programs that work and a full setup to use a program called VHScrCap. This tutorial was originally written by one of our gamers on Justin.tv and is a relatively easy way to set up a desktop broadcast. As for audio, here is a tutorial that will show you how to configure your PC's audio such that it can be broadcasted.

Recently, a lot of streamers have switched to using XSplit Broadcaster for their streams as it supports desktop capture, audio capture, and broadcasting all in one application. Currently Xsplit is free while it is in beta.

Console Gaming

Console broadcasting will require a Capture Device to get started. Depending on the way you have your console set up with your TV, you may need to buy RCA couplers and RCA Splitters.

In order to get the video from your gaming console, you'll need to get a capture card. These can range in price from as low as $34 to $200 depending on the quality of video you're wanting to broadcast. Here is a list of Capture devices that gamers around Justin.tv have used to broadcast their gaming.

Grabbing the audio from your console is another element, you can buy an audio mixer so that it will allow you to capture the audio from your console and your voice at the same time, or you could do it the cheap way (which will suffer game quality) and simply use a Web camera to pick up the surrounding audio from your game as well as your voice.
