Timeout
From Jtvcommunity
The Timeout feature is a Moderator only command, used to temporarily remove a user from the chatroom. This ban will automatically expire, meaning the Moderator will not be required to unban the user. The server will automatically unban the user after the allotted time. A timeout will also remove all of the users messages, in order to prevent users from seeing what was said.
Timeouts by default are 10 minutes (see customization below), allowing the user to return after 10 minutes.
To give a user a 10 minute timeout, simply type: /timeout USERNAME
- Username: The specific username which you wish to timeout
Alternatively, you may type /kick USERNAME (with respect to the variable above)
Customization
Moderators are allowed to customize the amount of time they wish the user to be removed. The default value is 10 minutes; however, some moderators will want the timeout to be longer or shorter.
To customize the duration of the timeout, simply type: /timeout USERNAME DURATION
- Username: The specific username which you wish to timeout
- Duration: The amount of time you would like the user to be removed for (in seconds)
Example: /timeout jtv 60 will time out "jtv" for 1 minute (60 seconds)
Alternatively, you may type /kick USERNAME DURATION (with respect to the variables above)
Duration
Below is a cheatsheet for the amount of minutes you may want a timeout to be. Remember: the duration must be given in seconds. There is no limit in seconds.
To find out how many seconds it is in a given amount of minutes, the simple equation is: Minutes * 60 = Seconds
Example: 2 (minutes) * 60 = 120 (seconds)
| Seconds | Minute(s) | Hour(s) |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 1/2 | |
| 60 | 1 | |
| 90 | 1.5 | |
| 300 | 5 | |
| 1200 | 20 | |
| 86400 | 1400 | 24 |
